Tokyo, Japan - August 27 , 2024 -SENSYN ROBOTICS Inc. is pleased to announce that it has participated in a joint demonstration project with FUSO DENTSU CO., LTD. aimed at the remote inspection of public facilities.
Public facilities located in remote areas present the challenge of time-consuming routine inspections. In particular, when technicians are unable to access the site in the event of a disaster or malfunction, it is difficult to respond quickly. Another issue is the inability to perform necessary interventions such as restoration operations from a remote location when an abnormality is detected in a facility using sensors. Therefore, SENSYN ROBOTICS Inc.and FUSO DENTSU CO., LTD. jointly participated in the verification of remote monitoring using robots that can operate automatically and remotely, with a view to daily inspections of facilities and quick response in the event of a disaster or failure.
Demonstration using UGV*1
SENSYN ROBOTICS Inc. built a UGV that enables remote control and autonomous driving using the Internet environment, and provided it in combination with an arm robot provided by FUSO DENTSU CO., LTD.. Technical support was provided for the selection of an appropriate UGV, its installation on the arm robot, and system integration. By combining the UGV with the arm robot, it is possible not only to patrol the site using autonomous driving, but also to perform restoration operations using the arm robot as needed. Through this demonstration, it was confirmed that the UGV can efficiently inspect a wide variety of facilities. In particular, by remotely performing periodic maintenance work and temporary isolation in the event of failure, human resources were reduced and inspection accuracy was improved.

Demonstration experiment using UAV*2
A UAV (Skydio aircraft) capable of indoor flight in a non-GPS environment was utilized.SENSYN ROBOTICS Inc. provided training and other introduction support to Fuso Dentsu, utilizing its flight technology and know-how acquired in the field, as well as flight support at sites with narrow sections and spiral staircases, which are difficult to fly. Through this demonstration, we confirmed that the system can be used to acquire instrument data through autonomous flight and conduct initial surveys in the event of a contingency, regardless of the operator's skill level, with simple remote control. In addition, real-time data acquisition enables immediate response to any abnormality that is detected. As a result, equipment downtime in the event of a failure was minimized and efficient operations were realized.

SENSYN ROBOTICS Inc. and FUSO DENTSU CO., LTD. will continue to work together based on the knowledge gained through this initiative to achieve manpower savings, efficiency, and speed in facility inspections. For UAVs, the AI analysis system will analyze the acquired data on instruments and equipment appearance to enable early detection of small anomalies that the human eye tends to overlook, thereby further improving the efficiency of maintenance work. Through these improvements and the use of AI, we will promote the advancement of facility inspections with DX.
*1 UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle) … A generic term for a vehicle that can travel unmanned without a driver on board.
*2 UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) … An aircraft without a passenger. Commonly referred to as a drone.
