SENSYN ROBOTICS, Inc. in cooperation with Xynas and Oita University's Disaster Mitigation and Recovery Design Education and Research Center, commissioned by Oita Prefecture, conducted a demonstration experiment to utilize the "SENSYN Drone Hub" for initial response in the event of a disaster or accident.
This demonstration experiment was conducted as a trial for drone technology, which is undergoing research and development, in order to establish a system for information collection by drones, as Oita Prefecture aims to make practical use of drones in the event of a disaster.
While expectations for the use of drones are rising in response to the increasing severity of natural disasters, it is difficult to secure pilots immediately after a disaster strikes, as personnel from related agencies are engaged in rescue operations and other tasks.
Therefore, it is necessary to create an environment in which private companies and people in local governments that do not mainly respond to natural disasters can fly drones to gather information, and to build a system that allows them to take pictures of a certain quality.

"SENSYN Drone Hub" is a system that combines a drone aircraft, a base (drone port) that supports automatic takeoff/landing and recharging, control software, and business applications to realize automation of business operations.
The system features automatic takeoff/landing, automatic recharging, and automatic data transfer, enabling data acquisition by drones without human intervention by setting up routes in advance.
This eliminates the need for workers to visit the site each time, enabling efficient and safe operations even in hazardous areas after a disaster strikes.

In this demonstration test, a route was set up assuming a quarry 380 meters away as the disaster site, to confirm whether the necessary data could be acquired. During the flight, we verified the video quality of the connection between sites relayed by the video transmission system, and were able to confirm the situation at the site in real time.
In addition, by linking the acquired data with the "EDiSON" disaster information utilization platform, we were able to successfully share the shooting data and location information with related organizations.

"SENSYN Drone Hub" can upload the data acquired by the drone to a cloud server in real time via the LTE network and analyze the data. (The use of LTE communications in the air is subject to application to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.)
Data can be automatically uploaded to the cloud and analysis reports can be created without the need to import data to a PC each time a flight is made, allowing information to be shared quickly.

Disaster prevention and mitigation efforts using the latest technology are spreading, but to truly utilize this technology in disaster prevention systems, it is necessary to build a system that can be used on a daily basis in normal times for multiple purposes. By utilizing the "SENSYN Drone Hub", which can automatically perform everything from takeoff and landing to filming, data transfer, and analysis, it is possible to construct a system that can be used in both normal times and emergencies, such as for infrastructure inspection, monitoring, and patrols during normal times, and for assessing damage when a disaster occurs. In the event of a disaster, the system will monitor the damage.
In addition, immediately after the occurrence of a large-scale disaster such as a massive earthquake, even trained personnel may be stuck for a while. In such a situation, "SENSYN Drone Hub" will make it possible for drones to collect necessary data during that time.

We will continue to develop solutions that can contribute to solving manpower shortages and ensuring worker safety, which is also a social issue, by improving the efficiency and sophistication of operations.

About SENSYN ROBOTICS

Our mission is to evolve what is considered “commonplace” in society with the power of robotics. It is under this mission that we have continued to take on pressing challenges in regards to specific social issues in various fields focused on facility inspections, disaster response, and security and surveillance by achieving the full automation of work with the power of robotics since our establishment in October 2015.
