Tokyo, Japan - July 30 , 2025 - SENSYN ROBOTICS, Inc. is pleased to announce its collaborative development of an AI solution with Chubu Electric Power Grid Co., Inc. to realize smart maintenance for substations utilizing robotics and artificial intelligence.

Previously, the two companies have advanced technological development using robotics and AI with the goal of achieving smart maintenance for substations. Having confirmed the practicality of drone flights and data acquisition within substation premises, the project is now advancing to the next stage. This involves building a system based on the "POWER GRID Check" application for transmission facility inspections, designed for autonomous navigation in unmanned sites.

SENSYN ROBOTICS and Chubu Electric Power Grid have jointly developed automated drone inspection technology for power transmission facilities. This technology was implemented into "POWER GRID Check," a business application specialized for the maintenance of overhead power transmission facilities, which commenced field operations in 2021. This technology enables automated, high-quality facility inspections and photography without the need for advanced piloting skills. While initially focused on transmission facilities, the companies now plan to implement technology for the automatic generation of patrol routes specific to substation equipment, along with the AI technologies established through their previous efforts, into "POWER GRID Check."

Furthermore, based on past research findings, Skydio's drone (Dock for X10) has been adopted for this research as a tool capable of safely and stably acquiring data even in the unique and highly restrictive environment of a substation.

Additionally, by the end of the last fiscal year, the integration between SENSYN ROBOTICS' proprietary application development platform, "SENSYN CORE," and Skydio's cloud platform, "Skydio Cloud," was completed. This integration has established an interface capable of transferring flight route information created in "POWER GRID Check" to "Skydio Cloud" and the Skydio drone. This eliminates the need for manual flight route creation, contributing to a reduction in man-hours and ensuring consistent quality. Moreover, looking ahead to beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) operations, a demonstration of data linkage between the video streaming application "SENSYN CORE Monitor" and "Skydio Cloud" was also conducted. This successfully established an interface for the real-time transfer of video and telemetry data from "Skydio Cloud." Development is currently underway to incorporate these functions into the final product.

What is 'POWER GRID Check'?

'POWER GRID Check' is a transmission equipment inspection application that utilizes drones, based on technology jointly developed by Sensyn Robotics and Chubu Electric Power Grid. It is characterized by its ability to automatically inspect transmission towers (supports and insulators) and transmission lines (ground wires and power lines) in one go. The application ensures a safe distance between the drone and the equipment while performing automated flights to collect consistent data, allowing workers without specialized knowledge of drones to easily conduct transmission line inspections.
