SENSYN ROBOTICS has developed an autonomous cage monitoring system in collaboration with TAIHO Industrial Corporation. SENSYN ROBOTICS is providing technology for AI analysis to detect dead chickens.


Because the inside of the egg-laying poultry house is a multi-layered system, it is often difficult to visually check from the ankles to the top of the head. It takes a long time to visually check for dead chickens, and since the work environment is dimly lit, smelly, and dusty, it is an obstacle to the daily patrols that are necessary. If this monitoring is neglected and detection is delayed, there is a high possibility that (1) epidemics will spread and (2) rotten eggs will flow out (automatic egg laying is interrupted by dead hens and they rot).


In the autonomous cage monitoring system, a robot that automatically patrols the poultry house travels autonomously through the poultry house and detects dead hens early by AI analysis using a visible light camera and a thermo camera to improve egg-laying efficiency (prevention of rotten eggs). High detection accuracy* is achieved.

*Detection rate (dead chickens detected/all dead chickens): 93%, false positive rate (live chickens/dead chickens determined to be dead): 0.3%.

With the introduction of this system, there is no need for patrols to detect dead chickens, and only the removal of dead chickens that have been notified to us will be necessary.

In the future, we will aim to develop a system for managing the health of chickens, in addition to detecting dead chickens, and will not only save labor and manpower, but also improve the efficiency of work at the work site.
